Generations of mastery, tradition, and award-winning excellence.

Kyoto’s Matcha Legacy Since the 1800s

Since the early 1800s, a devoted family in Kyoto’s Uji region has been cultivating exceptional matcha. This family-run tea garden has passed down the art of tea cultivation through the generations, beginning with the establishment of their farm nearly two centuries ago. Throughout the years, they have perfected their techniques, consistently winning prestigious competitions and paying homage to their rich heritage.

Velvety custard flavors with rich umami and a hint of bitterness for a bolder, nuanced taste experience

Ame: Bold, Creamy, and Complex

Ame offers a flavor profile similar to Kumo, with a velvety custard-like taste and rich umami notes. However, it is distinguished by a slight bitterness, providing a bolder, more complex taste experience. The balance of umami and mild bitterness creates a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that is both satisfying and nuanced.

EGCG and L-Theanine for immunity, stress relief, and focus

Ame: Antioxidant-Rich, Calm & Focused

Ame Matcha is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins like EGCG, which help fight free radicals and promote overall health. These antioxidants support immune function and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Additionally, Ame contains L-Theanine, an amino acid that promotes a calm, focused state of mind. L-Theanine enhances alpha brain wave activity, which can help reduce stress and improve concentration, making Ame not only a delicious but also a beneficial choice for both relaxation and mental clarity.

Preparation Guide

To fully enjoy Ame Matcha, you can prepare it in two traditional styles:

  • Usucha (Thin Tea):
    1. Sift 1.5 grams (about 1/2 teaspoon) of Kumo Matcha into a bowl.
    2. Add 60 ml (2 oz) of hot water (about 65°C/149°F).
    3. Whisk vigorously in a “W” motion using a bamboo chasen (whisk) until a frothy layer appears on the surface.
    4. Enjoy the light, smooth, and slightly sweet flavor.
  • Koicha (Thick Tea):
    1. Sift 3-4 grams (about 2 teaspoons) of Kumo Matcha into a bowl.
    2. Add 30-50 ml (1-1.7 oz) of hot water (about 70°C/158°F).
    3. Mix slowly with a bamboo chasen until the matcha is smooth and thick, with no froth.
    4. Savor the rich, intense umami and slightly bitter notes.

Enjoy Ame Matcha as a refined choice for those who appreciate a slightly bitter edge, coupled with the luxurious flavors of high-quality matcha. This tea offers a sophisticated indulgence, carefully crafted from generations of expertise and a passion for excellence.
